'But, strangest of all, the very instant the shore was touched, an immense dog sprang up on deck from below ... and running forward, jumped from the bow on to the sand. Making straight for the steep cliff, where the churchyard hangs over the laneway to the East Pier ... it disappeared in the darkness.'
Dracula (1897) By Bram Stoker
Whitby has long been a haven for artists and authors alike over the centuries but has more recently become a favoured holiday spot for Goths due to the unrivalled sucess of the bi-annual Whitby Gothic Weekend, organised by Topmum Promotions (www.wgw.topmum.co.uk)
The weekend is always packed to the rafters with goths who ascend from allover the world for a chance to dress as they like, listen to fab bands and shop til they drop. I myself have attend Whitby Gothic Weekend for 10 years now and look forward to the next with as much excitment as is humanly possible to endure.
I created this site not only to house my photographs from my time at WGW and to display information about the next gothic lolita get together, but as a chance to give people a bit of information about whitby and what there is to do for a goth about town, so i have compiled some reviews of guesthouse myself and a few other whitby Lolitas have stayed at and also a bit of info about various establishments for food and drink in and around Whitby. I also include a goths guide to Whitby, which details various shops and locations which may be of interest to a gothic tourist
So please enjoy and let me know what you think, or if you would like to submit a review about any of the above or have an idea for an addition to the site please mail us at wgw-egl@fsmail.net
